Since 2018, $1.5 million has been raised through this event thanks to the generosity of our community benefiting local kids and families at Children’s Hospital of Richmond at VCU.
Proceeds from Words & Wisdom will be dedicated to flexible philanthropic funding, helping Children’s Hospital of Richmond at VCU prepare for the unknown. This support is critical to CHoR’s mission as a safety net hospital, treating all children regardless of insurance status or ability to pay.

“The Voice of Resilience: A Brotherhood Defined by Music, Advocacy and Breaking Barriers” featuring X Ambassadors band members and brothers Sam and Casey
As founding members of the multi-platinum band X Ambassadors, brothers Sam and Casey Harris have inspired audiences around the world through their music and message of resilience.
Casey, who has been legally blind since birth, is a passionate advocate for disability inclusion and accessibility, using his platform to challenge perceptions and expand opportunity. Together, Sam and Casey share an uplifting story of perseverance, purpose and overcoming adversity, complemented by intimate acoustic performances of some of the band’s most beloved songs, including the chart-topping hits “Renegades” and “Unsteady.”

With more than a city block dedicated to caring for kids in downtown Richmond, and satellite locations throughout Central and Northern Virginia, CHoR provides specialized care when and where it’s needed. CHoR has been caring for kids for over 100 years and continues to grow, and with support from friends like you, our team will continue to make an undeniable difference for the 80,000 children and families who rely on us for care each year.
